Blackburn B&DPL entered the final round of the 2014 Lancashire Open Interleague season with a commanding First Division lead, while Wigan B were in control of the Second Division. This archive captures the position before the fixtures scheduled for 30 November 2014.
First Division title race
Blackburn B&DPL led the First Division on 113 points, 17 ahead of second-placed Bury on 96. The leaders required only four more frames from their final fixture to make the championship mathematically secure.
At the other end of the table, Clitheroe were in the relegation position. Atherton & Westhoughton A, on 81 points, and Lancaster, on 79, were contesting the remaining positions around the relegation and Great Yarmouth play-off picture. Atherton & Westhoughton A were due to visit Blackburn B&DPL, while Lancaster travelled to Bury.
Second Division
Wigan B held an 11-point lead and were well placed to win the Second Division and secure the associated Great Yarmouth play-off place. The race behind them was much tighter, with only two points separating second to fourth. Darwen hosted Wigan B while Chorley played Adlington, Blackrod & Horwich.
Individual merit leaders
In the First Division, Blackburn B&DPL’s Geoff Hadgett led the merits with 16 wins from 18 frames, followed by team-mate Kevin Close with 15 from 18.
In the Second Division, Chorley’s Kevin Snape led with 14 wins from 18. Iain Cross of Wigan B had 12 from 16; Cameron Bell of Darwen and Peter Quayle of Atherton & Westhoughton B had 12 from 17; Ryan McDermott of Chorley and Kane Suddick of Darwen had 12 from 18.
