Australia v England – Ladies Test Series

Whilst the England Lionesses may have narrowly lost the first ever Test Series 3-2 in Australia, there will never be a more closely fought battle for many years. A tight schedule meant the 1st Test was played on the day of arrival and with all the fight expected from England they came away with an important 13-12 victory to take a 1-0 lead. The following day the next 2 Tests were played which saw Australia winning both. The first match ended 14-11 and the 3rd going to 12-12 and a decider which Australia won meaning they would go into the final day with a 2-1 series lead. With their backs against the wall the Lionessess then looked to have settled and took the 4th test commandingly 16-9 setting up an amazing finale to the series. As with most of the matches the scores in the final test were always close with no team pulling away until Australia nearing the 5th session went into a 12-9 lead. England fought hard managing to tie the match at 12-12 AND another decider. Unfortunately Australia once again were the victors 13-12 taking the series 3-2. The International Singles however was a success for England with Sharon James defeating Kolbe Poole 7-6 in the final. To watch the final test on YouTube ...
