World Champion Mick Hill showed just why he is considered to be one of, if not the, greatest 8 ball pool players of all time taking the first of the 2016 tour titles in a thrilling final against current Premier League champion Phil Harrison. Hill, who also won the first tour of the 2015 season, produced a near faultless display in the final getting off to a 4-0 lead with clearances off both of his breaks and both of Harrison’s dry breaks. Harrison took the next before Hill produced two more clearances to take an almost unassailable lead. Harrison was far from ready to throw in the towel and with the luck on the break changing he managed to pull back 4 in a row with some fantastic clearances, two of which came from the break. Hill managed to make a ball on the next break and that was all he needed to (pardon the pun) get on the hill and from there victory seemed inevitable; and so it was to be as Harrison jawed a ball in the final frame leaving Hill with what would look to most like a tough clearance but based on Hill’s previous efforts seemed a sure thing. Hill took them out in style with an exhibition shot thrown in and took home the trophy and a cheque for £2400, not a bad weekends work!
