It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true pool enthusiast and an exceptional member of our pool community, Christine Patterson. As the Lancashire County Pool Association, we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual who has left an indelible mark on the sport we all love.
Chrissy’s dedication to the game extended back to at least the year 2000, but we know her involvement may go even further back to the 80s. Her journey coincided with the beginning of our records, and her name became synonymous with the vibrant pool scene in Lancashire.
A true pioneer, Chrissy played a pivotal role as a committee member for the Preston & District Women’s Pool League. In all likelihood, it was the first dedicated ladies’ local league in the country. Through her tireless efforts, she not only helped shape the league but also inspired countless women to pursue their passion for the sport, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
On the final Sunday before her untimely departure, Chrissy’s passion for pool was as evident as ever. Representing her beloved “Moody Cues” interleague pool team, she was still deeply involved in discussions about improving the Ladies’ Interleague competition in Lancashire. Her visionary ideas and determination to foster a stronger pool community were evident, and she continued to contribute to the sport she cherished.
Chrissy was not only a passionate player but also a knowledgeable advocate of the sport’s rules and regulations. Her insightful thoughts on the International 8-ball pool rules showed her commitment to the finer details of the game.
Beyond her exceptional pool skills, Chrissy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and vibrant personality that brightened up any room she entered. She had a way of making everyone around her feel welcome and included, fostering a true sense of camaraderie among players.
As we say our goodbyes to a remarkable individual, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, teammates, and all those whose lives she touched. Christine Patterson’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of the Lancashire pool community, and her legacy will continue to inspire future players and enthusiasts to carry on her passion for the game.
Rest in peace, dear Chrissy. Your cue may be silent, but your spirit will forever resonate in the heart of the game you loved.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Lancashire County Pool Association
