The UK Tour’s most popular and action packed event is nearly upon us, the Festival of Pool. The Easter weekend of 25th to 28th March will see over 190 of the UK’s finest pool players competing for a number of titles such as the Strachan Individual UK Tour, the Metropole Challenge and the Supreme Team Classic.
The first tour of the season saw two champions from 2015 battling it out in the final with Mick Hill proving too strong for Phil Harrison on this occasion in what was a fantastic match. With them again being on separate halves of the draw it’s possible that a repeat could be on the cards but as always they’ll face tough competition from a host of talented players from far and wide with competitors joining us from as far afield as the Reunion Islands, Morocco and France.
The ever popular Supreme Team Classic will see the Premier League players separated as team captains and the remaining players being randomly drawn to create a host of 3 man teams who will then compete for the title and substantial prize fund. This gives players a unique chance to play in the same team as World Champions past and present such as Adam Davis, John Roe or Tom Cousins to name but a few.
In addition to this the two Premier League events, both men’s and ladies, will be contested over the weekend guaranteeing a feast of top class entertainment. Can Mick Hill and Tom Cousins maintain their unbeaten run? Equally, will Lorraine Fivey and Sharon James keep their clean sheets in the Ladies? With 2015 Champion Amy Beauchamp suffering her first premier league loss at the hands of Kate Hillman in the first event, it should prove to be an interesting season.
With the Metropole Challenge and the World Championship Qualifiers also taking place, and a record number of competitors, it is sure to be a busy weekend for all involved. Any spectators who wish to come down and watch some of the best players in the world competing in the fantastic surroundings of the Hilton Metropole are very welcome to do so, we look forward to seeing you there!
